Malvern Red & Black
Society members, who attended (and taught at) MCI during the 1950s and 1960s,
participated in a rousing and memorable joint reunion on September 27th,
2008.

The 1960s were memorable
years in many ways for MCI students and teachers. We would be interested in
receiving your stories and photographs of your time at Malvern for our archives
and future Musings. Please send any such items to Malvern Collegiate Institute,
55 Malvern Avenue, Toronto, ON, M4E 3E4, attention Malvern Red & Black Society,
Archives Committee.
Some memorable
happenings at MCI in the 1960s included: the Concert Band first wearing scarlet
tunics and kilts (1960); five consecutive city hockey championships (1961-1965);
final year for the cadet corps (1964); retirement of Mr. Philp, Chemistry, and
Miss Nichol, French (1964); retirement of Mr. Kerr, Principal (1965); Mr. Green,
new Principal (1965); Centennial project, where Members of Parliament and
Provincial leaders hand wrote their thoughts about the next 100 years in Canada
(1966-7). The book is in our Archives.
Look forward to our next
Musings Letter (by email or regular mail, your request) in the fall of 2009.
